Keeping the aviation industry flying
About Us
SelectMyTalent was established to address a challenge we have all experienced as professional aviators, the full-time job it becomes, looking for a job. We are Pilots ourselves and have gone through redundancy, attended assessment days and know exactly what it feels like. Our objective is to streamline the assessment and recruitment process for both the pilots and the Operators by assessing you prior to sending your CV’s for consideration.
After you have signed up to the full assessment profile, you will gain access to the Engagement Lounge which offers a wide variety of industry updates, recruitment trends, technical papers and much more. Your engagement with aviation must not wain and this excellent area is a chance to connect with other professionals, where you can share, connect, comment and discuss relevant industry information.
Jonny Patterson (Co-Founder)
I am a current A320 SFI and A330 / A350 TRI having operated aircraft for multiple operators on an Aircraft Crew Maintenance Insurance (ACMI) basis. My experience on the A320 exposed me to short-haul, European operations, including winter operations in the harsh Scandinavian environment. The A330 has afforded me global travel with extensive ETOPS experience to The US, Caribbean, South America and Africa.
Away from the flight deck I achieved an Business Studies Honours Degree from The Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen. I was previously invited to become a Pilot Trainer for Kura Aviation as well as selected for inclusion onto the Customer Liaison Team (CLT). I have held various mentorship roles both in and away from aviation.
My recruitment experience included assessing and selecting candidates for international permanent and contract roles. Having interviewed hundreds of candidates, I fully understand the process and its challenges.
I have experienced the cyclical nature of the aviation industry and know what it feels like to be made redundant. I have a strong desire to support pilot assessment and selection and believe SMT can offer a high value and unique service.
Fraser Daun (Co-Founder)
I am an experienced aviation professional and current Airbus 320 TRI/TRE/LTC with British Airways. I have a BSc in Mathematics from the University of St. Andrews and I am currently studying for a MSc in Air Transport Management at Cranfield University.
I have accumulated approximately 7000 hours on both Airbus and Boeing types having worked for XL Airways, Viking Airlines and Sunwing prior to joining British Airways. I have completed several wet-lease contracts that have taken me around the world with bases in Thailand, Canada, and Turkey.
Beyond my flying role I have held several additional roles and responsibilities; Training Director, Airline Assessment and Selection, Flight Operations Duty Manager, Ground Instruction, Fuel Specialist and Flight Planning
My area of expertise is aviation recruitment and training. I have led significant projects in both areas including to establish a new Flight Training Organisation which successfully trained and placed over 200 pilots into airline employment.
Having managed and administered recruitment campaigns for various AOCs (airline, helicopter, executive jet) as well as ATO assessment I understand the challenges, frustrations and concerns. I believe this new and structured approach will dramatically reduce the operator’s recruitment timeline, remove the strain on inhouse HR resources, reduce costs, increase efficiency but also importantly improve standards.
I am passionate about helping others. Having experienced industry downturns and redundancy earlier in my career I know the challenges pilots face in this pandemic. I am here as someone to listen, to offer advice and ultimately to support you back into employment.
